Participant FAQ
The questions worth asking before you decide anything.
Straight answers, including the ones that lose us bookings. If something here is not covered, ask us directly — a person will answer.
Before you book
Is this legal?
Every facilitator listed on TripFacilitator operates legally in their own jurisdiction, and legal standing is the first thing we check before a listing goes live. What is legal differs by country, by substance, and sometimes by the specific licence a centre holds — so the honest answer is that it depends on where you go, and the listing tells you.
We do not list anyone operating in a grey zone, and we do not list anyone who cannot show us where they stand.
How do you vet a facilitator?
We check three things before a listing appears: that they are legally operating where they are, that they medically screen guests before accepting them, and that they provide integration support afterwards — not just on the day.
You can see all three on every profile. If a facilitator does not meet them, they are not here.
What does TripFacilitator charge me?
Nothing. You pay the price shown on the listing. Our arrangement is with the facilitator, not with you, and it never changes what you pay.
Can I talk to someone before I decide?
Yes, and we would rather you did. A twenty-minute conversation is worth more than a week of reading, and there is no pressure to book at the end of it. Use the contact page or book an intro call.
Screening and safety
What happens before I am allowed to pay?
You complete a health screening. This is not a formality — the booking stops there, and no money is taken until it is done.
We ask about medication (MAOIs, SSRIs, lithium and others), heart conditions, personal and family history of psychosis or bipolar, pregnancy, epilepsy, liver and kidney disease, and we ask for an emergency contact. Some answers mean we will not take a booking at all.
What if my answers mean you refuse me?
Then we refuse, and you are not charged. Your place is released immediately.
Some refusals are absolute — an MAOI, for instance, because the interaction can be fatal. Others mean "not like this, and not without a conversation first". Our rules are deliberately cautious and they are drawn from a questionnaire, not from a doctor who has met you, so if you think we have it wrong, talk to a person.
I am currently struggling. Should I book?
No — and we will not let you. If you tell us you are in crisis or having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, we do not take a booking. A psychedelic experience is not what helps in the middle of a crisis, and the honest thing is to say so rather than take your money.
We will point you to people who can talk to you today.
Is TripFacilitator a medical provider?
No. We are not a medical provider, our questionnaire is not a medical assessment, and nothing on this site is medical advice. The facilitator screens you properly; we are the first pass, not the last word. If you are unsure about your health, speak to a doctor.
How old do I have to be?
18. There are no exceptions, and it is checked at screening.
Money and cancellations
What am I paying when I book?
Most programmes take a deposit up front and the balance closer to the date. Whichever applies, the amount due today is shown before you pay — there is nothing hidden behind the button.
What happens if I have to cancel?
You get back whatever your facilitator’s cancellation policy says you get back, and you can see exactly how much before you confirm the cancellation — the number is on the screen, not in an email afterwards.
Every facilitator publishes one of three policies (Flexible, Moderate or Strict), and you agree to it before you pay. It cannot be changed afterwards, even if the facilitator changes their terms.
Is my deposit refundable?
It depends on the policy, and the policy is shown to you before you pay. On a Flexible policy it is. On Moderate and Strict it is not — which is what a deposit is for.
What if the facilitator cancels?
You are refunded in full. That is not a policy question, it is the only decent answer.
Reviews and trust
Can I trust the reviews?
A review on TripFacilitator can only be written by someone who booked through us, paid, and actually travelled. We do not accept reviews from anyone else — not from people who enquired, not from the facilitator’s own friends, and not from us.
We read every review before it goes up. We do not edit them, and we do not take one down because a facilitator asked us to.
Why does a facilitator have no reviews yet?
Because nobody has travelled with them through us yet. We would rather show you an empty space than fill it with something we invented.
Your privacy
What happens to my health answers?
They are encrypted before they are stored, they are never written to a log file, and they are never sent in an email. Only the people who need to read them — your facilitator, and us if your screening needs a second look — can open them, and every time somebody does, it is recorded.
This is special category health data under GDPR, and we treat it as such.
Can I have my data deleted?
Yes. Email us and we will delete it. We may have to keep a record that a booking existed for accounting reasons, but the health answers go.
Still not sure?
That is a reasonable place to be. Talk to a person — no pressure to book, and we will tell you if we think this is not for you.
